Hendricks Farm & Dairy
July 25th, 10 am
Join us on a tour of Hendricks Farms and Dairy, and learn about their production of raw milk, meats, and award-winning cheeses. We will enjoy a tour of the family's beautiful farm and cheese houses. You will learn about raising the grass-fed Ayrshire and Angus cattle that produce their products, the use of draft horses to power the farm, and the production of their cheeses. Our day will conclude with a picnic lunch featuring locally-produced food, including Hendricks delicious cheeses.

The Fifth Annual Brewer's Plate

Our same favorite craft beers and gourmet food at a new bigger and better location...

The Brewer's Plate is the main fundraiser for the year to support ALL of the programs at Fair Food. This marquee event of Philly Beer Week 2009 showcases excellent pairings of gourmet food from independent, local restaurants and craft beers from local, artisinal brewers.

Paradise Hill Farm
Vincentown, New Jersey
Heirloom cranberry bogs and blueberry bushes

The last, but not least, Fair Food Farm Tour of the season will take place at Paradise Hill Farm. Specializing in cranberries and blueberries, they are dedicated to preserving heirloom varieties. The farm has been in Mary Ann Thompson's family since 1890 and spans over 800 acres in the Pine Barrens, with 200acres in cranberry production. Walk out to the dry-farmed bogs, see their antique machinery, and hear the colorful stories!

Ticket price includes a deliciously fresh and local picnic, and a donation to Fair Food.
Prices: $25 Adult, $12 Child (6-13). Kids under 6 are free.
FMNP (WIC or Seniors) participants receive a 50% discount.

Rineer Family Farms

Diversified Vegetable and Pastured Beef Farm

Come visit this beautiful 110-acre preserved farm located alongside the Pequea Creek. Protected from development by the Lancaster Farmland Trust, the Rineer family has ensured that their land will remain available for agricultural purposes alone for generations to come. Daryl Rineer will show us his family's diversified vegetable and beef farm where we will visit the pasture-raised cows and learn about the benefits of a grass-based diet to animal health and happiness. You'll be able to taste the difference yourself when we have some of Rineer Family Farm's own Black Angus beef burgers at our picnic!

Organic Pasture-Based Animal/Heirloom Pig/Cheese-making Farm

Join us for a trip to Cherry Grove Farm where we'll visit their grass-fed cows, lambs, and heirloom Tamworth pigs in order to learn about the advantages of pasture-based farming- both for the nimals and the eaters! We'll also visit their farmstand and cheese-making facilities to learn how they make their delicious cheeses (and taste some as well)!

Wills Valley Farm Tour

Organic Unpasteurized Lacto-Fermented Vegetables

Enjoy a day out as farmer Tom Forrest shows us around his certified organic farm, which specializes in unpasteurized lacto-fermented vegetables and jams. We will be joined by Sandor Ellix Katz, the esteemed author of "Wild Fermentation: The Flavor, Nutrition, and Craft of Live-Culture Foods" and "The Revolution Will Not Be Microwaved: Inside America's Underground Food Movements." After a tour of this unique farm, we will picnic at the scenic Pinnacle Point which overlooks the Susquehanna River and miles of beautiful farmland. Atop the riverside cliff, we will enjoy sausages and tofu dogs topped with Wills Valley's own sauerkraut and fermented red cabbage.

Weaver's Orchard

U-Pick Berries and Cherries

Take home some of the last strawberries of the season when we go berry picking at Weaver's Orchard. Stock up on berries as we pick our own red and black raspberries, sweet and sour cherries, and possibly blueberries as well! On our visit to Farmer Ed Weaver's fourth generation, 100-acre fruit orchard and vegetable farm, you'll learn about growing fruit using the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach to farming. Our tour will be topped off with with a delicious picnic featuring strawberry shortcakes made with berries that we have picked ourselves! You'll have plenty of time to shop at their wonderful farm market (including their bakery and ice cream stand).
