There's
nothing fake about VRAPPLE, a new vegan breakfast treat from Sarah's
Savories. Vegetarians and meat-lovers alike have given rave
reviews to this seitan-based version of the Pennsylvania specialty.
Made in West Philadelphia by our own Sarah Cain with a variety of
high-quality local ingredients (don't bother asking for the recipe
it's top secret!), it can be found in our freezer case as of Thursday
afternoon.
Expect rapture from this Fair Food Farmstand exclusive: FLEUR DE
SEL CARAMEL and DARK CHOCOLATE GANACHE bonbons from r+d
chocolates. According to Rachel and David Gordon, r+d is
"the result of a Ph.D. in bioengineering, years of training
as a research scientist, and an obsession with chocolate."
These chocolates are artfully made in small batches in Philadelphia
with local cream and butter from pastured cows.

NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN CORN
PUDDING
Adapted from www.magicalmeltingpot.com
4 cups raw milk
1 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup unsalted butter
2/3 cup toasted cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 ground allspice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 300°. Butter a 2-quart casserole.
In a medium saucepan, combine 3 cups of the milk and the maple
syrup over
medium heat. Heat until it simmers and then add the butter and
vanilla.
In a small bowl, combine the cornmeal, ginger, cinnamon, and allspice.
Using a wire whisk, slowly add the cornmeal mixture to the milk.
Reduce
heat to low and cook until thickened, stirring occasionally.
Spoon into the greased casserole and pour the remaining 1 cup
of milk over
the top of the pudding. DO NOT STIR. Bake for 2 1/2 hours, until
the milk
has been absorbed and the top is golden brown.
